Some are, and well deserve the title, there are old pilots and there are bold pilots. I wouldn't rush to put all heli muster pilots in the 'irresponsable/reckless flyers basket'. Pilot wise, well they have some of the best pilots I have ever seen, and some of the worst I have ever seen, a few I wouldn't let drive my car let alone fly my chopper and a few who have been life long friends of our family for many many years.
#Droppy copter cracked
Maybe that's why i'm a slightly cracked egg. well I guess that got me thinking, she prob should be, but I never did, none of the people/kids up here do, you fall off a few times you learn to hang on.That's just how it is in our world. Its pretty easy to shock people who have never lived in this world, I posted a photo a few months ago on here of my little girl out mustering with us, riding her horse, and a certain friend ( u know who you are) commented on the fact she (5 yrs old) wasn't wearing a helmet. In saying that, he is not only is the largest private helicopter company in Oz, but I think hands down would also give more low hour new CPL holders their first start in the industry. Milton as said above owns NAH, Albatross and a few smaller interests along with Coolibar Station, as Choppermech said, a smart fella, I wouldn't trust him either, but I have my own reasons for that. I can tell you that if you are game and have half an interest in cattle its an experiance not to be missed, many fine people, a few rat bags, plenty of fun, hard work, rum and dust involved. The cattle industry in the NT is a different world, doesn't make it right or wrong but that is how it is up here. we don't all get to do that ) through out the NT, and a fair wack of North QLD as well. Take it or leave it, but this is how it is, on every station (minus a few choppers here and there and the winching into rivers after croc eggs. Something that has to be pointed out, to those of you who know and have lived and worked up here you will know what I mean. Either the smartech or the feda with seperate electronics are the most realiable and most bang for the buck, Jabo does work but has more chezy electronics and a heavier head wich eats more power.Droppy as always right on, Choppermech also makes very good points. So if your gonna have a taste of the hobby get one of the cheapes ones, just dont get the colco thunderbird as its a scam design not capable of flight. The only way to get a micro heli to perform much better is to fit a brushless system and polymer cells and lower drag CF blades for really high headspeads.
If your gonna spend more money on a heli for better performance you wil have to go for the Piccolopro or larger size helis, all these small ones perform pretty similar and its all pretty much limited to their size weight and power. Because of its price it has fallen on the hands of many ilmotivated and desillusioned newbie pilots who thought this was plug and play and they cry their eyballs sore in these forums because they cant make it fly and it breaks down after being smacked into hard objects a hundred times. Aerohwak is maybe the most underated heli out there now. On the other hand parts are way cheaper and the aerohawk has HHgyro standard while the picoboard has it as an upgrade.
#Droppy copter manual
Pfft, paying extra for the Piccolo is pure waste, the aerohawk performes just about similar, a little harder to setup due to a manual on the slim side.
